A.  Job Seekers Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Everything Ugandan job seekers need to know before working abroad

However, the minimum standard requirements include:

  • Being medically fit (tests for HIV, TB, Hepatitis A & B; some countries require additional tests)
  • A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining
  • Three passport photos (white background)
  • One full-size photo in formal wear (white background)
  • Original academic documents (S.4, S.6, Certificate, Diploma, Degree)
  • English language understanding
  • Recommendation letters or discharge letters (if available)

For job-specific requirements, please contact our team directly.

🔹 2. How much does it cost?

  • Only vaccinations from approved health facilities are accepted at Entebbe Airport.
  • Costs may vary slightly depending on the hospital or exchange rate.

For domestic worker costs, please refer to Section B.

🔹 3. Do I need an agent to contact you?

No. You can reach us directly via phone, WhatsApp, email, or by walking into our office.
We do not encourage the use of agents.

🔹 4. Why is recruitment expensive?

Recruitment fees are a global phenomenon recognized by the UN.
Many employers outsource their HR and hiring functions, creating external recruitment costs.

Key reasons include:

  • Demand vs. supply: Fewer countries hire foreign labor compared to those supplying it
  • Outsourced hiring systems that involve multiple intermediaries
  • Limited ethical recruitment arrangements where employers pay the fees

Uganda currently has ethical recruitment only for domestic workers going to Saudi Arabia, where the employer pays the recruitment fees.

At Explorer Dubai Ltd, we always strive to source low-cost or free jobs whenever possible.

🔹 5. Where do I pay the required fees?

All payments must be made ONLY to the company’s bank account or MTN MoMo Pay.
Explorer Dubai Ltd is not responsible for any payments made outside these channels.

🔹 6. How long does it take to travel?

Timelines depend on:

  • Employer readiness
  • Visa processing speed
  • Religious seasons/holidays
  • Your interview performance

On average, travel takes 1 to 3 months after passing the employer selection process.

🔹 7. Which countries do you take people to?

We only deploy workers to countries approved by the Government of Uganda.
Currently, most opportunities are in:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Qatar
  • Bahrain

We are also working to expand into Europe and North America.

🔹 8. Is there a lot of suffering in Arab countries?

There is no evidence of widespread or systematic suffering among Ugandan workers in the Arab world.
However, domestic workers are a vulnerable category and require close monitoring.

Uganda has bilateral agreements with these countries to protect workers and resolve challenges.

🔹 9. Why does social media show suffering and deaths abroad?

Social media is largely unregulated, and many stories are:

  • Exaggerated
  • Misleading
  • Completely false

Most genuine cases involve illegal migrants who traveled on visit visas and lack legal protection.

Legal migrants have clear rescue and support mechanisms.

🔹 10. What jobs are available?

Job categories change frequently depending on employer demand.
Check the Available Jobs section on this website or contact us directly.

🔹 11. What age is required?

  • Standard age: 21 to 40 years
  • Some jobs (e.g., truck drivers, professionals) allow flexibility

Always ask if unsure.

🔹 12. What sex is required?

Both male and female candidates are needed depending on job specifications.

🔹 13. Can I travel and pay the fees from my salary?

Normally no.
However, we have partnerships with certain banks that offer migrant employment loans, subject to eligibility.

🔹 14. Can I take my family with me?

Not during the first deployment.
After about two years, depending on your salary and the country’s laws, you may apply for family sponsorship.

🔹 15. How long is the contract?

  • Middle East: 2 years, renewable
  • Europe: 1 year, renewable for several years

🔹 16. Can I resign and change jobs or countries?

You must follow your contract terms and host country laws.
In many countries, your work visa is company-specific, meaning you cannot change employers freely.

Always seek guidance before making such decisions.

🔹 17. When are the interviews?

Interview dates, venues, and times are always indicated on the job advert.

🔹 18. When are contracts issued after interviews?

Usually immediately, but not more than 14 days after selection.

🔹 19. Where is your office located?

Main Office:
Plot 3782, Lukadde Road, Namugongo–Kyaliwajjala, Kira Municipality.

We open branches or conduct upcountry interviews depending on demand.

🔹 20. Do you have opportunities outside the Arab countries?

Yes, but they are rare.
Europe and North America are potential markets, but they are still unfamiliar with Uganda’s labor potential.

🔹 21. Do you take loans?

We generally do not, because most expenses must be cleared before travel.

🔹 22. Can I pay in installments?

Yes, installment payments are allowed before travel.

🔹 23. Why was I removed from the WhatsApp channel?

This is usually a WhatsApp system error or a temporary suspension of our channel.

🔹 24. Can you take someone below 21 years?

Some countries like UAE and certain European nations accept candidates below 21, but most prefer 21+.

🔹 25. How long do refunds take if a job collapses or medical fails?
