Three Fascinating Details About the Religious Beliefs of Ugandan Nurses

As far as we can tell, Islam is the state religion of Saudi Arabia. Since Saudi Arabia is where Islam was first preached to the general public, it naturally has an important place in the hearts and minds of Muslims everywhere. This is why our religious and nonreligious Nurses alike honour and adhere to the following truths:

Nearly 93% of Saudi Arabia’s 30 million residents are Muslims, making it an officially Muslim country; most Muslims are Sunni. Shia Muslims make up about 15% of the Muslim population. Over two-thirds of Saudi Arabia’s population will be under 29 in 2022. Islam is for sure the second most common religion in Uganda, so religious and nonreligious Nurses know about Islamic customs and values. These include how to eat, what to wear to parties, and how to take care of yourself.

It’s also worth noting that Islam was conceptualized in what is now Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabian monarchy is home to Mecca and Medina, Islam’s two most important cities. Our Nurses are among the many able-bodied Muslims in Uganda who, like millions of other Muslims worldwide, make the incredible journey to Mecca to pay their respects at the Kaaba.

In Saudi Arabia, the government imposes severe limits on religious practice. Neither the Constitution nor the government backs off from interfering with religious rituals and symbols. The legislation governs etiquette issues, including dress requirements. Many of our Nurses have attended Islamic educational institutions (colleges and high schools), so they are already familiar with the majority of Islamic norms and customs. To what end are we engaging in this discussion? – All things considered, our Nurses are acceptable in any Muslim society.
